Meyer remains one of the winningest coaches in NCAA history, retiring with 923 wins. Meyer's journey took an unexpected turn when he was involved in a life-threatening car accident and inoperable cancer diagnosis. Meyer returned to the sidelines for the 2008-09 season, leading the Wolves to their second straight appearance in the Division II national tournament.

Meyer has received national recognition on numerous occasions for his career and now travels the country presenting leadership seminars and motivational talks. His story is the subject of the best-selling book "How Lucky You Can Be" and upcoming major motion picture.

A Wayne, Neb. native, Meyer had aspirations of being a pro-baseball player. Not only was he an outstanding baseball player, but he also excelled in basketball. Meyer attended the University of Northern Colorado and graduated in 1967. Meyer served as an assistant coach at Western State (Colorado), and the University of Utah, where he earned his Ph.D. His first head coaching position was at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minn.
