The Good Friday service, led by our Middle and High School Youth, begins with the stripping of the altar, leaving empty spaces where we are invited into the darkness of our sinful souls. As we listen to the song, Feel the Nails, we come to the cross to feel the point of the nail lightly pressed into our hand, and ponder the suffering of Jesus on the cross. We watch as a man and his two small children encounter the crucifixion of our Christ. We are confronted with the knowledge that it is each one of us who has nailed Jesus to the cross by our sins and transgressions. As the service closes, we pass by the cross, and know it is the living Christ who bears the sins of the world, with the assurance that Christ is waiting for us to lay our burdens down at the foot of the cross, and accept Him as our personal Lord and Savior.
