Name: Rooster Rush Storefront & Marquee Contest
Date: September 22, 2016 - December 11, 2016
Event Description:
Rooster Rush Takes Flight
Get ready to roll out the ORANGE CARPET – It’s time for Rooster Rush! With the opening day of pheasant hunting on October 15, cities and businesses statewide are participating in the seventh year of this season-long promotion. The promotion was introduced across the state to help preserve and promote the history of the state’s pheasant hunting industry and offers a great opportunity to welcome hunters, conservationists, families and friends into our communities.
“Pheasant hunting in South Dakota is a tradition unlike any other. It is a tradition that combines South Dakota’s great outdoor resources and the warm hospitality of our residents,” said Governor Dennis Daugaard. “People come from across the country each year to experience a South Dakota pheasant hunt. The impact that pheasant hunting has on South Dakota continues to be an important part of the state’s economy.”
Pheasant hunting has a tremendous impact to Huron and South Dakota’s economy. According to South Dakota Game, Fish and Parks, last year there were over 150,000 resident and non-resident hunters who spent over $170 million dollars in South Dakota. Beadle County had over 5,600 resident and non-resident hunters who spent over $6.7 million dollars. Those dollars flow throughout the community generating additional sales tax revenue. Rooster Rush is a statewide celebration and we want to be involved! Here is how we can participate.
